Opthamologist.
Your third appointment with the opthamologist went really well. The good news is, you don't need glasses! We had your vision retested, your crossing evaluated, a possible partial tear duct clog looked at and your astigmatism checked. You almost passed with flying colors. The only thing the doctor still has concerns about is a possible partially clogged tear duct. She doesn't think it will be necessary to have surgery, but wants to keep an eye on it. We'll go back in 6 months for another check.
You did have to have your eyes dilated. We did this back at 4 months and it didn't really bother you. This go round, you were very aware that something was going on with your vision. I think it scared you. You clung to me while the medication was in your system (24 hours... apparently it takes longer to wear off in babies).
Waiting for your eyes to fully dilate... good thing we brought paci along. You needed it when the medication started taking effect.
Pediatrician.
Your one year appointment with the pediatrician went really well. Dr. A was very impressed you are drinking from a straw cup! She also commented on how smart you are. I'm sure she says this to all parents, but it brought a smile to my face. We discussed weaning and I will begin that process in the coming weeks.
You had to get three shots, all in your chubby little leg (MMR, Chicken Pox and flu) and had your finger pricked (hemoglobin). You cried, for sure, but it didn't last long. Dr. A is VERY quick and it wasn't anything a little cuddle and song couldn't fix. It still hurts my heart to see your reaction to the pain. Momma hates shots herself, and knows how terrifying it can be.
