Double Trouble...

It was bound to happen at some point in time... you have your first ear infection. A little over two weeks ago, you came down with a cold. You have gotten colds on an off and have never gotten an ear infection as a result. We've been really lucky. Not so this time.

You've been very uncomfortable over the past few days. In fact, on Tuesday you didn't even eat your lunch. That's not like you at all. You've been randomly crying and then moving your hand up to grasp your upper jaw area. At first, I thought it could be related to your molars coming in. The more I watched you, the more I began wondering if you did, in fact, have an ear infection. Friday morning was rough for you. You woke up at 6am screaming and you also had a hard time nursing. As the day went on, you were still a little off, so I took your temperature and it was 100.5  Normally, I'd give you Tylenol and wait and watch you for a little while. Good thing Grandmommy and Grandaddy called during lunch. They said with the weekend ahead of us, it might be a good idea to get you checked out. I agreed, called the pediatrician and they worked you in.

The doctor peaked into your mouth and your ears. Your gums are swollen and your molars are starting to come in; however, she said it could take a while for the pearly whites to pop through and you shouldn't be feeling pain yet. When she looked in your ears, both were red and had fluid build up. Bingo, we pinpointed the pain. Bless your heart, you have a double ear infection. We caught it before your temperature really spiked and got you started on a low dose antibiotic. Good thing we took you in. We could have been sitting in an urgent care clinic over the weekend.

You're doing much better this morning, although you still have a fever. We're giving you a little extra TLC and cuddle time. Hopefully, you're on the mend.
