11 months

This has been a really fun month. You are growing by leaps and bounds. In just a few short weeks, you'll be a YEAR old and that completely blows my mind.

Tidbits. You are personality plus this month. I have really enjoyed the past few months. Your little mind is constantly working and I love to watch the way you approach life.

You're very into mimicking and you study every thing we do. Daddy and I love to make faces at you and your newest trick is sticking out your tongue. Daddy also loves to whistle for you. You've recently figured out how to "whistle" too. You make an "O" with your mouth and breath in and out until an audible "whistle" comes out (it sounds like you're blowing over the top of a bottle). It's too cute. You are a busy body and love to explore!

Your personality is shining through. You are head strong, feisty, and bit sensitive. I'm going to have my work cut out for me, I can already tell!

You wanted to wear Daddy's sunglasses. You're a rock star!

During one of our family meals out. Never a dull moment with you!

This was after a bath one night. You promptly crawled to your crib, reached through the slats and grabbed your paci. You had paci on the brain and no one was gonna stop you.

Picking out a new book.

You love playing with Daisy. Your favorite thing to do is hold up one of her toys (and you actually know which are hers) and have her grab it out of your hand over and over again.

You also share your food with Daisy.

You definitely know the word "no" and your reaction is hilarious when we say it to you. You typically take whatever is in your hand, throw it, start crying and start quickly crawling towards us (can we say sensitive and a little dramatic! LOL!!)

You are still biting. It's not a malicious bite, just something that feels good to you. You're not biting while you're nursing, so that makes me happy. You are, however, biting throughout the day.  You don't bite directly onto someone's skin. You tend to bite into cloth and you sometimes get our skin too. We're trying very hard to break this habit.

Teeth. Speaking of biting and teeth, we believe you're working on your first molar. You're showing the signs of teething again. I tried to look in the back of your mouth with no luck, so I stuck my finger in your mouth to see if I could feel anything. Bad idea. You bit down, hard. I'm pretty sure I felt a little intruder before you bit me, but I'm not 100%. We'll see. You are fussing and then holding your hand up towards your jaw. There's no sign of an ear infection, so teething is my best guess.

Favorites. You have an honest to goodness favorite book. Daddy and I were fascinated by this. We call it the "Moo, Ba, La" book. We lay several books out and you always go for it. When we start reading another book, you crawl out of our lap and pick up you favorite, hold it up and then crawl back to us and actually close the other book we're reading. When we start reading, you get the biggest smile on your face. When we read the "La, la, la" portion, you repeat it. It's so cute!

Your favorite activity is swinging at the play ground. I have a feeling tantrums are just around the corner. The past few times we've been to the park, you started crying and gripped the swing with all your strength when I went to get you out.

Your favorite play mate is Conner and the two of you have so much fun playing and chasing (crawling after) each other. Mrs. Mindy and I have looked into swim lessons for the fall. We're trying to think of good activities for the two of you to do when the weather starts getting cooler. We have you signed up for Gymboree, so we know that will be fun.

Motor Development.  Have no trouble cruising from object to object. In fact, you're very fast and Daddy and I have to keep a good eye on you. You are also walking holding on to just one of our fingers now. You are so close to letting go and flying solo. You can stand alone for several seconds at a time... that is until you realize what you're doing and reach out for the closest object.

You have discovered the stair case and love to crawl up (with our supervision, of course).

You have a new sign "all done." That brings your grand total to two. I think that's pretty good for 11 months. We're still working on "please" "thank you" "book" and "eat"

Eating. You are a bit more selective this month in your eating. You still eat really well and your favorite foods are cheese, any cut up fruit, graham crackers and pretty much any meat. You really don't like pasta. I think it's a texture thing. You are still nursing three times a day, although I think you're taking it upon yourself to wean to two. You aren't as interested the middle of the day nursing session. You have gotten into the habit of tossing food off of your tray to indicate you don't want any more. We are trying to break this, but it is taking a lot of time and patience. We're starting to ask you if you're all done when this happens and if you sign it, we take the rest of the food on your tray away. So far, so good. Now, we have to figure out how to get you to sign BEFORE tossing the food :)

A shot of you and daddy posing after a trip to Cracker Barrel. You ate about half of my meal. I brought food for you, but you had your eye on my plate. Once I gave you a bite, it was pretty much over. You kept signing more and there was no distracting you. You feasted on collard greens, grilled chicken tenderloins, daddy's chicken and dumplings and a biscuit (don't judge).

Daddy and I can't wait to see what's in store next month. You are growing so fast right now and discovering new things every day. We can't believe you're almost a year! It absolutely blows our minds. We love you Hannah Kathryn!!!!
