School Days...

You had your first day of "school" today. It was very exciting! Daddy and I decided that it would be good for you to attend a MDO program at least one day a week this year. You still have some issues with separation anxiety, although NOTHING like last year at this time, and we want you to be around a group of children your age on a regular basis. This will be a great way to have structured learning while learning to be independent of me. We are thrilled for you!

We've been talking about school a lot over the past week. I attended a parent's night program last week and we also went to meet your teachers and tour your classroom. For your special day, you helped pick out a pretty dress and wore your new red shoes. You were so excited about your new red shoes! You could barely contain yourself when we were putting them on. When they were secure on your feet, you stood up and said "pretty!" You would lift your dress just enough to pick up your foot and admire your shoes. You were so happy!

Testing out the new shoes...

Your teachers this year are Ms. Amy and Ms. Sue Sue. Both are sweet as they can be. They told us to bring a favorite stuffed animal or lovey, so of course Poogan came along with you to make the transition a bit easier. We were instructed to "drop and run" when we arrived. You walked all the way to the door of your classroom. You were happy as a clam, until you figured out I was about to leave you. You turned around and clung to me and that's when the big crocodile tears started welling up in your eyes. I held strong, and turned the other way after tell you I loved you.

When I returned to get you, I got a great report. They said you quickly stopped crying and were happy the rest of the day! They even said you enjoyed dancing with Ms. Amy. That sounds like my Hannah! You were precious when you saw me. You ran to me, arms wide open and gave me the biggest bear hug. We were both equally happy to see one another. I can't wait to see the joy this class brings you throughout the year!
