You had your fourth check-up with the Opthamologist this week. This clinic was really fun for you. They had a little movie theater and a house that was just your size to play in while we waited for your eyes to dilate. You chose to practice climbing up and down the stairs of the little movie theater. LOL! It was hilarious! I think you could have played on those stairs for hours, literally.
This was our first time with Dr. B and he was fantastic! He really took his time with you and was very gentle and caring. He immediately recognized that you had a tear-duct issue and, unfortunately, did recommend a surgery for you. After a year of age, he said that there's only a 1% chance of the ducts clearing up without surgery. The surgery will be fairly simple. Basically, they'll put you to sleep and then open up both tear ducts with a small balloon. It will be an out-patient procedure and apparently takes less than 10 minutes to complete. I was assured that when you come out of your anesthesia, you will be pain free and completely unaware that a surgery happened. The only thing you can't do is swim in a public pool for a week after surgery. Not too bad, eh? It sounds like a win all around. Daddy and I are a bit nervous about putting you under anesthesia, but we know it's the only way to correct your tearing. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday, March 8th.
Stephen says that Hannah's dance looks like many of mine! We are praying for her this week and for you all as you support her and love her. Keep us posted! Hope it goes smoothly. Love you!
