Memorial Day Fun

We traveled to SC for two days over the weekend. We had an absolute blast with you! The entire Hubbard clan got together. We even got to meet the newest member of the family, cousin Haston, who is now 4 months old. I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture!

Grandmommy and Grandaddy have worked hard to make their house fun for the grandchildren. You, Megan and Max had a blast exploring the fun things they had for you.

You and Max checking out the "Big Ball." Usually, we'll hook the ball up to the hose and let the water squirt out of the sprinklers. That's the MOST fun!

In the ball pit.

First time on a tire swing!

Sitting on the big girl swing!

Most of our weekend was spent on Lake Keowee. This was really fun for me to share with you. Lake Keowee was literally in our backyard growing up. We spent countless days on the lake during the summer months. I have so many great memories on the lake and I'm thrilled I was able to introduce you to this!

This was your first visit and certainly not your last. You had a blast! You loved riding in the boat, although you weren't thrilled wearing a life jacket.

You and Megan had fun eating goldfish and singing songs!

Uncle Bill took us to a little island towards the dam. I was a bit nervous about how you'd react to the water. You quickly showed me that my worries were silly. You LOVED the water. You giggled and ran head first into the water. You'd lean backwards, float on your back and then kick your legs, giggling the entire time. When you'd had enough you'd say "all done" and then I'd grab your hands and stand you back up. We repeated this process the entire island stay.

You had fun laying on the shore and, yes, eating the dirt.

Seeing the lake through your eyes brought us so much joy. My heart burst with excitement watching you explore the environment around you.

The boys certainly enjoyed themselves too :)

You were flat worn out by the end of the day!

20 months

Happy 20 Months Hannah!

At 20 months you:

*Can climb on to and off of furniture

*Have figured out how door knobs work, but haven't quite mastered the skill of turning a knob yourself. I even caught you standing on your little stool trying to reach the door knob.

*Your memory amazes us. You practically read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" to us. You know the order of the songs on your Music Class ("cass") CD and begin singing the next song before it starts. You remember specifics from places you visit, e.g. you brought me a sealed bag at Grandmommy's when you first arrived and said "eggs, peese" and when I unzipped the bag, I saw several little white eggs staring at me. I was shocked. It had been weeks since our last visit.

*Can climb up the chain link ladder on the playground. It's not perfect so we still stand behind you, but the majority of the time we don't help.

*Love to help with chores. Among your favorites: washing the car, putting toys away, unloading the dishwasher, helping with the laundry, cooking and your all time favorite is feeding Daisy.

*Aren't afraid of many things, but have a good sense of when to be cautious.

*Are still working on letters and added a few new ones this month. You are also doing well with numbers and can finally say "one"!

*Are consistently stringing words together now. Our favorites:

"EEEEEEEEasy Daisy"- Easy Daisy (often said by daddy)
"Wub oo" - Love you
"No, sat peese"- No, sit please (directed at grandmommy and grandaddy's dogs, complete with bitter apple spray)
"Scoo bus"- School bus

*FINALLY sat in Ms. Nikki's lap in music class. This has been 12 weeks in the making. Up until this point, you'd only stand beside her during your tonal patterns. The last class of the session, you finally ran up to her and sat in her lap. We were all so proud!

*Are a little Tom Boy, we believe. You love to play in the dirt, are obsessed with balls, can be rough and tumble, not easily upset, are very strong, and not very interested in dolls (but love stuffed animals).

* Really study our hands when we're coloring with you and try your best to color "inside the lines." You usually get a few strokes in before wildly coloring again.

*Ate cold milk and cereal for breakfast for the first time and did great! You have the fine motor skills down. In fact, I don't think a single cheerio missed your mouth. That shouldn't surprise us though, you've been a master of the fork and spoon for quite some time now.

* Last month we introduced "the potty" to you. We talk about the potty a lot. This month, we've been letting you sit on the potty before bath time. Low and behold, you actually tinkled on the potty one night. You promptly stood up, looked down and said "oops." Even though we cheered loudly for you, I'm not sure you caught on that it was a good thing.

*Are definitely getting your 2 year old molars. I've been bravely sticking my finger in the back of your mouth and can feel a very swollen bump on the bottom right side of your mouth. You have 16 teeth now, do this doesn't surprise me one bit.

*Had a terrible yeast infection this month. I'm recording this for my memory bank and really to know what to do when it happens again. You were on an antibiotic for a sinus infection. You've never had a problem with taking antibiotics, until now. The pediatrician told us to put lotrimin on the area and to keep it as dry as possible. We kept you diaperless for days. The infection was being a bugger, so we had to get a stronger antifungal to knock it out. You ended up diaperless for the good majority of a two weeks. Many accidents were had. It's just part of the territory; however, I did take the opportunity to tell you more about the potty. Although you haven't had many successful visits to the potty, you can now tell me when you have a "poopey" in your diaper.  Hey, that's a step in the right direction!

*Are wearing size 4 diapers, size 18-24 month (more 24 month) clothes, size 5.5 shoes, and lots of bows! Standing on the scale, fully clothed, with shoes and a diaper, you weigh 28lbs.

*Saw many of mommy's childhood friends this month including: Allison, Lauren and Jody

*Celebrated Gran's 94th birthday in Gadsden

*Are desperately trying to hold conversations with us. You literally babble and point and make the cutest facial expressions. Every now and then, we'll hear a real word, but it's mostly babble when you are excited and want to tell us a story.

*Have started saying thank you "tee-too" and have an occasional "bess oo" for bless you.

* A few of your favorite things: stuffed animals, going outside (ah-side), our neighbors (Sara Jewel, Anna Catherine, Mrs. Rhonda and Keagan),"Mackey" mouse, balls, dancing, your paci (oh, how I'm dreading the day it goes away) and music.

Happy memorial day!

Enjoying a wonderful day on lake Keowee. We discovered you have a love for watermelon (no surprise! I ate an entire one every three days while pregnant with you) and you are quite the fish!

Hand Prints

Hannah made hand prints for Mimi, Gran and Grandmommy for Mother's Day. She had so much fun measuring, pouring and mixing the ingredients.

Mr. Turtle

You never know what kind of fun is in
store while in SC. On this trip, Uncle Bill found a turtle and brought him inside to show to you and Max. Max wasn't thrilled and you were initially shy, but after a few minutes you warmed right up!

Happy Mother's Day

19 months and counting...

I will add pictures to this post later in the week :)

At 19 Months You:

*Recognize and recite letters A, B, C, D, and O (yep, O...)

*Are beginning to count... although it all comes out as "tee-o" for two.

*Are beginning to string words together. In typical Hannah fashion phrases like "Please, Cracker" are generally at the forefront of your mind.

* Have many new words. Last month you were a little parrot and started repeating most of the words you heard us say. This month, you continued that trend. A few that you said out of the blue (without us saying them and then you immediately repeating them) that I actually remember: Broccoli and acorn

*Are singing tonal and rhythmic patterns in music class. This is fun for your mom!!!

*Can stack multiple numbers of blocks into a teetering tower.

*Sharpening your fine motor skills. We got you a wooden food set that you can "cut/slice" each piece a part. You are doing exceptionally well with it. You struggle with the round items (apples, peppers, etc). You haven't figured out that you have to hold with one hand and cut with the other. The flat pieces (bread, watermelon) were easier, since you don't have to hold and cut.

*Are finally doing much better with drop-offs at nursery both at church and at the gym!! There have been several "no tears" moments!! Go Hannah!

*You follow directions (even multi-step) very well.

*Have been quite vocal naming items of clothing and then either pointing to or saying the corresponding body part its worn on (eg: sock, shoe, foot; hat, head; glove, hand; bow, head; etc)

*Like playing games especially when it involves being tickled. You even "tickle" your own neck and say  tickle, tickle when we've stopped

*STILL put EVERYTHING into your mouth... chalk, leaves, crayons, paper, stickers...you name it, it goes. We still have to watch you closely to make sure you don't get a hold of anything you're not supposed to have... which you inevitably do. The pediatrician said "just keep her hands busy" she clearly  hasn't seen you in action.

*Are slowly transitioning to one nap per day

*Love, and that's with a capital "L," Daisy! Most of the time, I find you lounging on Daisy, taking her collar on and off, teasing her with her own toys (yes, you know which are hers), and even feeding Daisy. In fact, we gave you your first chore.... feeding Daisy. You pour two scoops of food into her bowl day and night and just love it!

*May, and I say that's a strong may, be getting your two year old molars. It's just a hunch. The only time you ever wake up from a sound sleep SCREAMING is when you've been teething. You've been waking up lately. You are such an early teether, that I think these molars may be the culprit.

*Have begun throwing tantrums. Lucky us.  This month you had your first, out right tantrum. I'm talking red face, screaming, fists clenched tantrum. In your defense, you were very tired and had just gotten your 18 month shots that morning. Regardless of the circumstances, it happened. I ignored you, and you eventually got over it. They seem to happen in the late afternoon.

*Are a lover of being outside, blowing bubbles, sidewalk chalk ("caulk"), balls, stuffed animals, your paci, books, carrying small bags (mostly my old purses) dancing and music.

Monkey!

Well, we knew it would happen sooner or later.... Our couches sit a little higher than the norm, but that didn't stop her determination!
